Everything You Need To Know To Find The Best vae powders

Dec. 30, 2024

Vinyl acetate-co-ethylene copolymers (VAE), offered by Gantrade Corporation and Dairen Chemical Corp, take the form of white, free-flowing powders that can be easily re-dispersed in water to create a stable emulsion. Often referred to as "solid latex," VAE redispersible powders (RDPs) are advantageous for shipping and storage due to their excellent stability. They can be stored and mixed without the challenges associated with emulsion forms. VAE products dominate the global market for redispersible polymer powders due to their usability and efficiency.

The process of dry mixing VAE-RDPs with other compounds like cement, sand, or lightweight aggregates ensures steady performance and consistency. These powders are typically used as modifiers in cements and plasters or serve as binder resins for inorganic materials, including gypsum and hydrated lime. In many formulas, VAE-RDPs act as the essential binder resin for construction adhesives.

Integrating VAE-RDPs into dry mix formulations brings various benefits, such as enhanced workability, improved water retention, greater plasticity, effective dispersion, and superior freeze stability. Characterized by their relatively high ethylene content, VAE resins offer softness and flexibility, which enhances performance when used as modifiers. VAE-RDPs contribute to better flexural strength, crack resistance, adhesion, abrasion and impact resistance, as well as water repellency.

They find applications in numerous construction materials, including tile adhesives, grouts, finishing plasters, troweling compounds, thin-set mortars, and sealing slurries. Depending on the required improvements in strength, impact resistance, adhesion, and water resistance, typically 2-10 percent of VAE-RDPs are added to cements and plaster mixtures.
